This old ornate silver hinge bracelet is covered with raised filigree domes, dotted with many little raised silver beads. Larger silver beads edge each side of the bracelet.
This is a heavy silver bracelet weighing 68 grams (2.4 ounces). It measures 1 inch wide with an inner circumference of 7 1/4 inches around. The bracelet tests for sterling. It closes with a pin, attached via chains so it can't be lost.
Most interesting we think, is the etched faint inscription inside...Millie - Xmas - '43. There's also a longer number below. We think this bracelet was a 'sweetheart bracelet', a gift from a soldier during WWII. The workmanship on the bracelet displays silver crafting of old world skill.
It wasn't till we saw our photos blown up that we noticed that a few of the little silver beads were missing. This was not obvious to the eyes at all because overall condition of this bracelet appears to be excellent.
This is a very interesting and unusual bracelet. It has its unique provenance and we can assume that on Christmas of 1943, Millie was a very happy girl.
