Though unsigned, we could see this vintage pin and earrings were no ordinary set. Everything about it has the Elsa Schiaparelli panache all over it. She created these pieces in the 1950s using large aurora borealis (as colorful as watermelon) rhinestones, prong set in silver-tone pot metal.
The pin measures 1 3/4 by 2 3/4 inches. It fans out in a bouquet of furled leaves set with colorful rhinestones in both round and navette shapes. They're prong set and faceted. The back has a secure rollover clasp.
The matching earrings are curved with the same large bold a.b. stone with more smaller stones along the curl. These are clip-back and measure 1 by 1 5/8 inches. The earrings are marked PAT. PEND.
The metal shows minor age-related tarnish but retains a good pewter-gray color. The stones are all intact and sparkling. Overall, the set is in excellent vintage condition. Not all Schiaparelli pieces were signed and this set certainly bears her style, if not her name.
