Years ago, I bought an amazing articulated solid brass alligator pendant necklace from a dealer friend. It was for me and it's been one of my favorite pieces...always unique and eliciting compliments. I would never sell it.
What a great surprise when I found the mate to my gator this week. It's every bit the clone and equally fantastic.
This mid-century pendant has a Brutalist texture...waves of gator skin rippling across the eight articulated parts. The alligator body hangs and moves from the head which has garnet-colored eyes. The gator measures 6 5/8 inches long. It bites a ring attached to the doubled-up brass chain which measures 17 inches around. No lightweight, this baby weighs 140 grams.
We haven't polished it, leaving the old brass patina nice as it is. Unmarked, circa 1960s. It's in excellent vintage condition. Wear it once and you'll be a staunch fan too.
