Into each life, a little exotica must fall. And there's not much more exotic than this old Turkmen jeweled pendant necklace.
It's hard to believe but this large, jewel-studded piece with jingly ball dangles was intended to be an earring worn by a tribal woman with very strong ear lobes. To us wimpy lobed women, it makes much more sense to wear this as a dramatic pendant.
The pendant is made of low-grade silver that does not test for sterling so it may be 800 to 900. The balls are silvered brass. There are triangles of lapis and faux rubies, sapphires and emeralds circling the curved pendant. It measures 4 inches across by 3 inches high to the neck band.
The vintage sterling silver band was added...it's marked MEXICO 925. Measures 15.5 inches around by 1/8 inch wide. It couples nicely with the bold tribal pendant.
This necklace lays comfortably around the neck, looking beautiful, intriguing, and like you march to your own drummer.
