We have to applaud the maker of this vintage necklace because we never would have thought to combine genuine Bakelite beads with Venetian glass and other odd beads. Lucky for us that someone did and voila...here's the beautiful result.
That big teardrop pendant is solid dark green (almost black) Bakelite with bits of yellow marbling. It has a nice textured gold-tone cap. The pendant hangs from a chain that's made up of more dark green Bakelite beads that are carved into two different shapes. Between the Bakelite, are gorgeous Venetian glass beads striped with gold foil flecks. There are also sparkling crystals, faux pearls, blue and tiger stripe crystal beads. There are small gold-tone spacers. (Some are tarnished but can be cleaned up.) The beads measure from 5mm to 22mm wide.
The necklace measures 22 inches around. The Bakelite center measures 2 3/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inches across. A spring ring clasp is secure. This design of multi beads makes for one very unique harmonious vintage necklace.
