Where are all those suave, debonnaire, men who used to charm us all with pipe in hand? Think Sherlock Holmes, the professors, the thinkers.
This vintage pipe is circa 1930s and is made of black and yellow Bakelite (tested). It's been smoked...the inside of the bowl is black and the edge of the bowl at the top shows use. The Bakelite is solid and sturdy and is toned from yellow to butterscotch color. The black Bakelite stem seems to have an extra hole near the tip...maybe added to enhance the draw.
The pipe measures 5 1/4 inches long. The bowl is 1 1/2 inches high. It's in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The pipe can probably still be smoked. More likely, this would be a great addition to a Bakelite or pipe collection. Since fewer people smoke these days, vintage tobacco / smoking paraphernalia has become very collectible.
