To insure one's security and success in Qing Dynasty China, people would wear amulets and adornments on their clothing.
This antique Chinese silver buckle-like amulet might have been worn on a sleeve, hat, or at the waist. It features a scene cut out of the silver...three men who seem to be celebrating. These figures often represented Gods of good health, wealth and wisdom.
The buckle measures 2 3/4 by 2 1/8 inches. It curves and has two bars on the back so that this can be slipped onto fabric and worn around the neck or wrist.
It tests for 900 silver and weighs 11.3 grams. We've left the original antique silver patina unpolished. Circa 1890. Excellent condition.
