Anyone who loves Mexican sterling silver jewelry knows the name LOS BALLESTEROS. It instantly conjures up the very best of the genre. And this fantastic silver bracelet is confirmation that this masterful Talleres (shop) made nothing but the best.
This six-link bracelet features a modernist cog-like design surrounded by inlaid abalone shell. The iridescent abalone radiates pink/blue/green color and highlights the silver design and frame.
This is circa 1950s. The markings include...TALLERES DE LOS BALLESTEROS TAXCO GRO, HECHO EN MEXICO, 925...with the stylized double B in a circular stamp. The bracelet measures 7 inches long by 11/16 inch wide. The box clasp slides in smoothly and locks with a snap. The bracelet weighs 18.5 grams.
Looking through a strong magnifier, we just noticed a tiny sliver of shell out at the edge of the clasp link. Not noticeable to the eye, especially since it's on the underside. The bracelet is not fully polished with nice vintage patina. Overall in excellent condition. Fine workmanship by one of the best names in Mexican jewelry.
