This estate set has the look of high-end couture jewelry, circa 1980. The earrings and almost matching brooch are all made of 925 sterling silver with a wash of gold vermeil. The gilded silver is raised up with a textured repousse look.
Under each earring is a double strand of genuine freshwater pearls with a gilded bead in the middle. The pin has a double strand of genuine ruby red garnet beads with a gilded bead in the center.
The clip-back earrings are oversized (but lightweight) and measure 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches. The brooch measures the same and is a bit heftier in weight. Each piece is stamped 925. The back of the pin has a secure rollover clasp. There's a blank plaque in the center...we believe this was for the maker's hallmark but it appears that this was not stamped. The set weighs 55 grams.
We can tell from both the design and how these were made that they were not 'run of the mill' pieces. All are in excellent condition with bright gilt and perfectly beaded strands. Though the earrings and brooch are slightly different in design, we believe this was intentional and the artist's 'statement'. The statement comes across with unique and extraordinary style.
