Come home late and this is what you get...got, back in the Victorian era. A good whooping. This original antique China Fairing was made by Conta Boehme of Germany in the late 1800s. These porcelain china fairings were given away as prizes at fairs. The caption on this fairing is...'RETURNING AT ONE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING'. A bed scene was a common theme on these figurines.
We can't tell if this is the husband or a naughty teen boy but someone's getting a good spanking from mom and her hairbrush.
The fairing measures 3 3/4 inches across by 3 1/4 inches high. The depth is 2 1/4 inches. The bottom of the fairing has the impressed maker's shield mark and the model number 2857. On the back of the fairing is a surface factory fault line that has the glaze running over it in some places. (We've seen the same exact manufacturing line on another listing of the same fairing.)
This 19th century figurine is hand painted on thick German porcelain. There's no wear to the paint. No chips. No missing toes. Overall, this antique fairing is in excellent condition. Old and original.
