This antique bangle bracelet is Victorian era tortoiseshell inlaid into a floral design with lustrous bits of mother-of-pearl.
The smoky swirl of the shell makes a beautiful backdrop for the pearlized flowers which run across both sides of the bracelet.
The bangle measures 3/4 inch wide. The opening measures 2 3/8 inches across (a bit smaller than today's standard 2 1/2 inches). The edges of the bracelet are curled inward. Through a magnifier, we can see negligible nuances around the inlay from the hand work involved. There are a couple of tiny gaps where a bit of pearl inlay is out but it's mostly on one side and not discernible to the eye. The shell edges are smooth with no dings. Overall, it's a glorious antique bangle, circa 1870s/80s.
