Here's a very unique old Navajo cuff bracelet. It's heavy sandcast sterling silver with a large oval natural turquoise stone set in a sawtooth bezel.
The dramatic simplicity of the design includes the sides which are shaped like bowties. The recessed backgrounds are oxidized to highlight the raised silver sun ray symbols. This is a work-intensive design created by a true artisan. The piece is unsigned as was the custom prior to 1970.
The bracelet measures 5 1/2 inches on the inside, end to end. The opening is another 1 1/4 inches. This is a good fit on a 6 1/4 to 6 3/4 inch wrist. The bracelet is 1 7/8 inches wide at center and 1 1/4 inches wide at the ends. The bracelet is very solid with no flex. It can't be bent. It's made well to sit firmly on the wrist without turning and twisting. The bracelet weighs 67.7 grams.
This high-quality bracelet is circa 1950s/60s. The turquoise stone is a brilliant blue color with characteristic matrix. This cuff is old pawn... a fantastic find.
