Life is bittersweet so get all the 'sweet' of it you can. That would include this luscious vintage lemon yellow two-strand necklace made of sugar beads. The glass beads look like they've been rolled around in sugar crystals but they're actually tiny glass 'beadlets' made to look like sugar.
This necklace measures 24 inches around the shorter strand. The beads measure 12mm wide. The strands appear to be slightly different colors...one a bit more orangey than the other. Together, they make a delectable vibrant eyeful.
The sugar bead clasp is goldtone with a secure slide-in closure. This necklace is unmarked but most of these sugar bead necklaces were made in 1950s Japan. This one is in excellent condition (a couple of pin dot black spots are inherent in the glass). Our new motto...less sugar in the belly...more sugar around your neck!
