We rarely find anything by this R.I. jewelry maker. They were in business from only 1946 to 1957, making high-quality costume jewelry pieces.
Finding a complete parure by Barclay is a rarity. This fine set includes a necklace, bracelet and matching clip-back earrings. The pieces are gold-plated on silvertone metal and set with brilliant amethyst colored facet-cut crystal navettes. Each individual section is open riveted on the back, reflecting the superior quality of the work. Because of the gold-on-silver tone gilding, the pieces look like they can be either gold or silver tone, depending on the lighting.
The regal necklace measures 16 inches around by 3/4 inch wide and features a 2-inch long cascading centerpiece. There's a goldtone woven snake chain with a secure foldover clasp.
The bracelet measures 7 3/8 inches by 3/4 inch wide. Also has a secure foldover clasp with an added safety chain. The matching clip earrings are 3/4 by 7/8 inch.
Each piece is signed BARCLAY in script on back of clasps. The set shows minimal age-related wear. It's overall in excellent vintage condition with no notable flaws. The stones shine brightly. It's a great find.
