SOLD - This early Chinese silver pin is a miniature architectural artwork. Instead of the traditional symbols, this pin tells a story with realistic elements of a village...dwellings, trees, a hut, people.
The pin is two-layered...the bottom is a backdrop for the detailed repousse, piercing and chase work on the top layer. The scene is a glimpse of Chinese culture.
The bow-shaped pin measures 3 1/8 by 1 3/4 inches. The back is marked CHINA - SILVER. This tests for sterling grade silver...925. It weighs 14.5 grams. The pin has a secure rollover clasp. We believe this was made circa 1920 during the Chinese export period.
This unusual intricate Chinese silver pin is a prime example of artistry and craftsmanship that is a feature of Chinese jewelry. Excellent condition.
