This original 1968 campaign pin features a portrait of Channing Emery Phillips (1928 - 1987).

Phillips was an American minister, civil rights leader, and social activist based in Washington, D.C.
In 1968, he was the first African American in history to be placed in nomination for president of the United States by a major political party.

The pin measures 1 inch. It's celluloid over paper and tin.

Minor age tarnish to back can usually be wiped off.
Pin is rare and in excellent vintage condition.
