DeNicola made high-quality, beautifully crafted costume jewelry during the late 1950s through the early 1960s. Then the company became part of the Capri Jewelry Company before closing in 1973.
Because of their short production span, DeNicola jewelry is harder to find and very collectible (we couldn't find this particular pin anywhere else). This DeNicola butterfly pin is a real catch. It's typical of their heavily gilded metalwork, superb texture, and unusual designs.
The butterfly appears to have three wings with raised smooth areas against the recessed texture. It measures 3 by 2 inches...very striking on a jacket lapel and against anything black. The gold-tone detail gives the pin great dimension.
The back, which is also textured, has a secure rollover clasp. Marked DENICOLA in an oval cartouche. Excellent condition with no signs of wear.
