One of the greatest finds in collecting Native American jewelry is finding a handmade early piece by Ray Tracey - Knifewing.
Here are a pair of his extraordinary sterling silver earrings. They're steeped in his Navajo traditional roots and made with his incredible deft talent of inlaying genuine stones.
These earrings are large and impressively set with variations of genuine turquoise and a splash of a purple stone. All are high-quality stones. Each earring has 3 detailed cut-out sterling feathers that dangle below.
Each feather back is signed with the TR (RT) initials along an engraved feather. Marked STERLING.
Earrings measure 1 inch across the top and a bit wider across the feathers. They measure 2 5/8 inches long.
Together, the earrings weigh 25.7 grams.
We've left the patina unpolished for collectors who prefer to see the aged beauty of the item.
These earrings are rare since these days Tracey designs items but has bench crafters who actually do the work.
With these earrings, he did it all.
Excellent vintage condition.
