Early Victorian Hand Pin Brown Stone w/ Gilt Jewelry - image 1 of 4

This is a very old mystery hand pin.

The dark brown hand may be one of several materials that were used back then...Bog Oak, some type of jet, gutta percha. It's a brown textured stone-like hand.

The stone sits on a gold-plated sterling silver hand-shaped backing. The hand is dressed up with a ring, a bracelet, and a fancy edged cuff.

Pin measures 1/2 inch across the hand by 1 1/4 inches long. There's a hallmark along the pin. It's very difficult to make out.

Some wear to the gilding. An age-related minor bend to the closure pin which works securely.

Pin weighs 4.1 grams. It's in very good antique condition. Mid to late 1800s. An intriguing early hand pin.
