This is an old, unique Czech cameo pin.

It's jet black glass or...black jet itself.

The pretty woman profile cameo is wearing a decorative Art Deco style cap with a two-strand bead necklace.

The pin is small...1 1/4 inches each way. The edge around the pin curves down and is beveled all around.

Here's the odd thing...the back is marked (embossed into the glass) MADE IN IMITATION CZECHO SLOVAKIA.

We know there was nothing 'imitation' about Czecho Slovakia or Czechoslovakia (the name changed several times).
They were well known for their fantastic costume jewelry from the early 1900s through the Art Deco era.

What they probably meant by the word 'imitation' was that they felt their unique ability to create jewelry and stones that looked 'real' was something to be proud of and tout. We've seen a few vintage things marked IMITATION from there and of course, there was nothing 'imitation' about it because it was genuine great Czech costume jewelry. As this pin is.

It's in excellent vintage condition. No dings. No nicks. No one can imitate genuine Czech jewelry.
