It's hard to believe what you can create on a very small space. But Toshikane of Japan had the talent to do it.

This vintage tie / lapel pin is just 5/8 by 3/4 inch and yet, it has a very elaborate beautiful scene on the front.

It's a snow scene...snow-covered trees and mountains in the background with a snow-covered roof house or mill and a large double wheel along the side. The wheels are gilded on hand-painted porcelain. This is what the Japanese Toshikane was known for....their impressive detailing and artistic designs.

The porcelain scene is mounted on a sterling silver (tested) metal backing. The back has a secure clutch with an added safety chain that probably would attach to a button or through the lapel hole (?).

Back is signed TOSHIKANE JAPAN with a Japanese hallmark.

Slight tarnish will polish up. Overall in excellent vintage condition.
