This stylized Art Deco lion is standing on his hind legs, dressed in a triple collar outfit.
The hand-crafted pin is made of silvertone metal that's been hammered along the lower half.
This lion has the look of the British lion passant symbol which is often in a standing position. The lion is a common symbol in heraldry. It traditionally represents courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour because, historically, the lion has been regarded as the "king of beasts".
This 'beast' measures 1 3/8 inches across by 2 1/4 inches high.
Back has a secure rollover clasp. Unmarked. Aged patina still looks good. Circa 1930s.
Excellent vintage condition.
