Before there were phones you could talk to and leave messages on, there was this PINCIL.
It's a pin. It's a pencil. It's a pincil. You wear it and if you need to write something down, you pull down the pencil which is on a long 13-inch goldtone chain. That was 'technology', circa 1940s.
The pin top is very pretty with etched flowers. It measures 1 inch across. The pencil measures 3 inches long. Both are very gold-plated and still bright and shiny.
We don't know if the pencil will work since there's no lead in it. The top does turn so if there was lead in it, it would probably be functional for all important messages your phone can't handle.
Back is marked KETCHAM who seems to be the maker of this clever pretty gizmo.
