This magnificent demi parure pin and earrings set is fresh from an estate where it was stored since the late 1880s and well cared for.
The metal is solid 14K yellow gold with texture all over the top of the leaves. Tucked among the gold leaves are carved flowers made of genuine salmon coral believed to be from Sardinia Italy. That's where these intricate coral carvings were made.
The pin measures 1 1/2 inches across by 2 1/8 inches high. It's about 1 inch deep from the side. It can easily be worn as a pendant since both ends can hold a chain. The back has the the original ~C~ clasp which is curved to hold securely. The pin weighs 13 grams.
The matching screw back earrings measure 3/4 by 1 1/8 inches (with the little gold bead dangle). Together, they weigh 7.2 grams.
The set weighs 20.2 grams. The screw backs turn smoothly.
There's no marking on the pieces which was how they made this jewelry back then. Each piece has been both machine and acid tested. It's all guaranteed to be solid 14K gold.
We know the gold patina can be polished to a brighter shine but we leave it to buyer to decide as that should be done by a professional jeweler. The coral shows some natural nuances, common to genuine coral.
The set is in excellent antique condition.
