This original political flicker pin is from the 1964 campaign. It shows President Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908 – 1973) who was often referred to by his initials LBJ.
LBJ was an American politician who served as the 36th president of the United States from 1963 to 1969. Formerly the 37th vice president from 1961 to 1963, he assumed the presidency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The Democrat from Texas also served as a United States Representative and as the Majority Leader in the United States Senate. He's one of only four people who have served in all four federal elected positions.
The pin measures 2 1/2 inches across. It flickers from his name JOHNSON and his face to FOR PRESIDENT. This was done using a technique called lenticular printing using a special plastic which makes the image look like it's moving.
The color pin has a secure pin back. Minimal signs of wear to back. Overall in excellent vintage condition.
