While the term “granulation” isn’t very old, granulated jewelry as old as 3,000 years has been found, most originating in what is now Italy.

This vintage set isn't from Italy and not quite that old but it's incredible and in our (limited) view, this belongs in a museum.

It's all solid sterling silver.
The work on this necklace and earrings set is so intricate and beautiful that you want to look at each bead individually. There are many different shapes and designs along this 24 inch long necklace. The widest beads are 1/2 inch.

The tiny dots of silver granulation stand out everywhere, adding texture and clustered shapes. There are scrolls of silver wire work and coils and bigger dots too. The clasp is a beaded loop that grabs onto a triangulated granulated bead with a little leaf dangle at the end.

The matching triangulated bead earrings are for pierced ears. They measure 1 1/2 inches long. The earring wires are marked 925 with a little mark that could be the maker's mark. Our best guess as to where this was made is Bali or India where this kind of bead work has been an artform for centuries.

Set weighs 94.4 grams. It's in excellent vintage condition. Made in the 20th Century.
