This vintage Original by Robert pin is what we call 'original made better'. Costume jewelry maker Robert Levy and his creative partners improved on jewelry designs of every era, including this Victorian style pin which can also be worn as a pendant.

This pin has a setting of 'Russian gold' which Miriam Haskell helped create for her jewelry. It's not really gold but certainly has the look of antique Victorian pieces that were.

The elaborate setting has cut-outs and scalloped edges and depth. In the center is a big red stone with black swirl. It's probably glass but looks like jasper.

Pin measures 1 1/4 by 1 3/4 inches. It's 5/8 inch deep. Back is nicely scrolled with a secure rollover clasp and a pendant bail that hooks onto a chain.

Excellent vintage condition. (Note - We read that following WWII, Hollywood stars discovered Original by Robert jewelry and it was worn in quite a few movies.)
