This antique straight razor was considered risque and naughty back at the turn of the 20th Century but if it helped you get a good shave, it was worth the raised eyebrow.
This fine razor was made by the WADSWORTH RAZOR CO. - XLNT. Marked GERMANY.
The front of the celluloid handle features an embossed nude figure with arms raised. She's standing on a lily pad with an ornate vine and floral background. The back of the handle is plain.
Razor measures 6 inches closed. The steel blade is 4 1/4 inches long. The steel shows age-related discoloration but the blade is sharp and ready for shaving. It's secure in the handle with no wobble.
The razor came in an old straight razor box with the embossed mark of an English razor maker...Frederick Reynolds. It seems that it was very common for people to NOT put the right razor back in the right box so razor and box rarely ever match up.
Overall, this razor is in excellent antique condition.
