This vintage sterling silver Taxco pin looks more Modernist than Mexican. It's a flower, maybe a tulip, with no ethnicity but with all the exceptional craftsmanship that Taxco jewelry is known for.

This designer made the flower big...1 3/4 by 3 1/4 inches. The lines are curved and clean with the flower top being goldplated over silver or brass. Pin weighs 22.8 grams.

The back is marked MEXICO - TF-38 - 925. If, in fact, the hallmark is TF-38 as it seems to be, this was registered to a silversmith with initials CFA. The mark is listed in the book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Bille Hougart but with no name.

Secure rollover clasp. Excellent vintage condition. If you're familiar with Mexican jewelry you'll see that this pin is a standout.
