Post-it notes. Potato chips. Penicillin. Teflon. Cornflakes. Silly Putty. This necklace.
What do they have in common? They were created by mistake. They started out to be one thing but ended up as something else that was even better than the intended.
This genuine turquoise faceted bead necklace was very exciting to find. It was made by Jay King's Desert Rose Trading...DRT. The graduating strand of beads are perfectly matched and sized in graduating form. But we thought...gee, these beads are so genuine and beautiful, wouldn't they look great with a Native American style pendant in the center? So we dug through our stock and found a perfect match. Except the pendant that we thought was also a DRT piece turned out to be a vintage Carolyn Pollack Relios inlaid pendant.
Once these two were together, they looked too good to separate. So our blooper turned into a super-duper keeper.
Each piece is marked with their hallmark. All the metal is sterling silver. All the stones and inlay work are genuine.
Necklace measures 18 to 20 inches around. Beads are facet-cut and measure 8mm at center to 5mm near the extension chain clasp with tiny heart charm at the end. The pendant measures 1 by 2 inches.
The good news is that the pendant slides off if you just want straight turquoise beads. Hang the pendant from a silver chain or from a cord. Create your own 'mistake' for something even better. The possibilities are exciting.
Excellent vintage condition.
