Chinese artists do so many things that challenge our imagination. One is hand-painting glass balls FROM THE INSIDE! But here's the beautiful proof.
This baby blue glass beaded necklace has a center glass ball that's painted from the inside on both sides. One side is a bird among the foliage which extends around to the red and yellow flowers on the other side. There are four smaller glass balls, two on each side, that repeat the design.
Along the way are also genuine pearls with iridescent coloring and texture. The combination of the baby blue glass beads, pearls and painted glass balls couldn't be more beautiful.
The necklace measures 18 inches around. The center ball and beaded dangle measures 5 inches long. The widest beads on the strand are 3/4 inch. The clasp and scalloped spacers are silvertone metal.
This necklace was made in the 1970s by a now retired jewelry designer whose collection we were lucky enough to buy. It's in excellent condition. It's unique and one-of-a-kind.
