This is a fantastic old 900 silver Mexican pin brooch with a unique cut-out of Aztec - Mayan Mesoamerican symbols.
There are native men with parrots on their backs. They're along the sides of a round totem-like circle with a head on the top. It's all very hand-etched and detailed while retaining its primitive folk art style.
The pin measures 2 1/2 by 1 3/4 inches. It has good weight for its size at 22.2 grams.
The back is marked 900 with a maker's hallmark that we couldn't identify. It looks like there's a bird's head with some letters over it. It's not one we've seen before. It might be a Guatemala silver mark...after an hour of searching, we couldn't find it.
The pin on the back is made much like the Victorian style pins with extended point beyond the ~C~ curve.
Excellent vintage condition. A rarity for the Mexican / Meso handwrought pin collector.
