This lush hefty leafy golden necklace and bracelet set with its pearly acorns looked too good to be 'ordinary'. And when we looked at the box it had been stored in for years, we knew why it looks so good and EXTRA-ordinary. It was purchased at Bonwit Teller.
Bonwit Teller & Co. was a luxury department store in New York City founded by Paul Bonwit in 1895. Later, it expanded to a chain of department stores and in 1897 Edmund Teller became a partner and eventually, the store moved uptown to Fifth Ave. and 56th St.
They sold the finest, the most luxe, the most hard-to-find and desirable clothes and accessories. They lasted till 1990, leaving behind this gorgeous set purchased by some savvy lady.
Thick, gold-plated leaves are detailed and veiny. Golden acorns have faux pearls and the chains that hold them all are multi links and wide and sturdy.
Necklace measures 16 inches around. The bracelet measures 7 inches long. The dangles hang 1 3/4 inches on both pieces. Large lobster style clasps hold securely. No mark that we see except for the mark it leaves on your impressed sense of style.
Excellent vintage condition. (We won't include the 'tired' Bonwit box which has a melted rubber band around it.)
