It's amazing how much detail you can get on the top of a stickpin. Victorian crafters had a lot of talent and patience.
This Victorian stickpin is made of bronze and is topped with the face and torso of a woman. She looks like a miniature of the type of bronze statues / busts of Gibson style women that were popular at the time. In fact, we're guessing this may have been made by a company who made bronze statuary.
Her mouth is open. Her eyes appear to be in a semi-swoon. Her breasts are barely covered. Could be she's having a wardrobe malfunction. There's some fancy scrollwork around her and what looks like an acorn finial coming off her right shoulder. All this is happening on the stickpin top that measures 5/8 inch across by 3/4 inch high. The detail is impressive.
The entire pin measures 2 5/8 inches long. It has its original bronze clutch at the bottom which was patented in 1909.
Unpolished bronze patina. Unmarked. Excellent antique condition.
