This old Victorian pin has two pink roses, some green flora, a gold border, and a cloud-like space in the center. The scene is hand-painted on porcelain.
Why the cloud of empty space? Back in the Victorian era, these pins were given to friends and family to relate some special message that was written into the space. Think of it as an early form of text. You could say... I love you, Happy birthday, Friendship, You owe me money...whatever message you wanted to relate. Of course, a name or initials also worked to personalize each pin.
So you have this antique circa 1890s porcelain pin, with a gilded brass back and a cloud for a message. Leave it as it is or leave a message. It's beautiful either way.
Measures 1 7/8 by 1 1/2 inches. The back ~C~ clasp is centered so you can wear this in any direction.
Excellent antique condition.
