Surely one-of-a-kind, this antique handwrought belt buckle is made of heavy sterling silver and depicts a popular Victorian theme...the girl on the swing. This buckle has two of them.

Who can blame them? The thought of your hair flying in the breeze, legs stretched out and pumping you higher and higher as you fly through the air...well, point the way. It's just what we all need to feel liberated.

The two sides of the buckle are almost the same image except that the handmade crafting of each leaves them slightly different and nuanced. One looks like she's smiling. The other looks a little grumpy.

The buckle measures 3 3/4 by 2 5/8 inches. It weighs 64.9 grams.

The back has a strange hallmark that we can't decipher so we're showing it both sides up. Whoever made this worked long and hard...just look at that background with the zillions of little 'pointillism' stampings. It's truly incredible.

We acid-tested this for sterling silver in several places...front, back, even the bars that hold the belt (2 1/4 inches across opening). All test for sterling.

Excellent antique condition. Unpolished patina for you to decide. Exceptional piece.
