If we had to guess where this necklace came from, we'd say France. But this isn't signed and we don't know for sure where this originated. But it's got 'that' look. That very creative, offbeat, avant garde look that we've seen on Art Deco necklaces from France.
So even if it was made in good old Brooklyn New York, this necklace has a very worldly savvy about it.
The center yellow and marbled brown beads are all genuine Bakelite (tested). The rest of the beads are brightly gilded balls and flat disks that have a very modernist 'spacey' look about them. The entire combination is just unusual and intriguing.
Necklace measures 16 inches end to end but the wearable length brings it close to the neck. The center beads drop 2 1/2 inches long. The clasp is a goldtone screw barrel.
This necklace is all original, circa 1930s. No marking that we see. Excellent vintage condition.
Whether it's from France, Brooklyn or Okefenokee, it's a great one that you'll be happy to add to your collection of mystery necklaces.
