This old Victorian coral necklace is 40 inches of hand-cut Mediterranean coral beads with sterling silver spacer beads in between.
These are coral rondel beads with natural salmon color. Because of the nuances in natural coral and how these were cut, there are slight variations in shape, even some beads with little inherent black spots here and there. Also visible in some of the beads are the growth lines of natural coral, not imitated in artificial coral.
The silver spacers are little facet-cut tubes. They've been acid-tested for sterling.
The necklace weighs 54.4 grams.
There's no clasp but one can be added by a jeweler. To double this one up, we're including a goldtone clamshell 'grabber' that clasps the necklace together so it becomes a double strand. It's beautiful worn long as it is or tied with a little knot.
These exquisite genuine Mediterranean coral beads are in excellent antique condition. Circa 1900.
