This adorable old charm bracelet spells out B-R-O-W-N-I-E.
Brownies were (are) the younger age group of Girl Scouts. First organized in 1914, they were called Rosebuds. The girls didn't like that name and complained to organizer Lord Baden-Powell. He changed their name to Brownies, from the story 'The Brownies', written in 1870 and very popular with children.
The bracelet measures 6 inches long with letter charms that dangle 1/2 inch. The gilted brass chain has a pretty and secure clasp.
Excellent vintage condition. Circa 1940s.
