Usually, the 'Sleeping Mexican' motif of the 1930s to 1950s shows the Mexican man in his big sombrero sitting against a cactus as he slumps forward for a nap under his hat. This old pin is a bit different.
This sterling silver Taxco pin shows the man facing the cactus, maybe even admiring it under his small sombrero. He's not napping but may just be communing with nature.
The pin measures 2 1/4 inches across by 1 1/2 inches high. It weighs 14.4 grams.
The back has a secure rollover clasp and is hallmarked TE-28 MEX 925.
Light normal wear with unpolished patina. Excellent vintage condition.
