It's a regal eagle, majestically enameled in black on a silvertone bolo.
The bolo is heavy metal but does not test for sterling. It might be Alpaca silver or sterling over another metal that's not magnetic. The bolo is etched around the eagle in the style of Native American designs.
The bolo measures 2 1/4 by 2 3/8 inches. It rides along a black braided leather cord / tie with silvertone end caps. It measures 34 inches around. The clasp allows you to adjust the length of the bolo.
The back of the bolo is signed with a designer hallmark we can't identify...looks like J. P. but the P could be an H. The other mark is BENNETT PAT. PEND., the maker. Bennett made clasps for many Native American bolo ties so the signature could be a tribal member or studio.
The bolo tie is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1960s. (Note - we had to hike it up on our manikin as she's too small to show the full length.)
