This is such an unusual clip, made during the Art Deco era.

The goldtone circle clip top measures 1 3/8 inches across but then there are 6 big orange dangles that burst out at the bottom that are about 2 inches across and 4 3/4 inches long with the clip top.

We were sure the dangles were Bakelite (or Catalin) but couldn't seem to get them to test to confirm that. They're hard plastic, carved and curvy. They remind us of fancy bowling pins.

The gilding on the clip shows wear and age tarnish. Could be regilded. There's a center orange bead to match the dangles. The dangles have little mini dangles.

The hinge on the back of the clip is still working securely. It's obvious that the maker wasn't thinking that the weight of the dangles was greater than the top clip but it still seems to work okay 80+ years later.

This old odd dress clip is a great addition to any Art Deco / early plastics jewelry collection.
