If your taste in jewelry leans toward the old and exotic, you've just met your necklace. It's one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, and uniquely tribal.
What we know for sure is that the antique center chain of dangles was once a headpiece...probably Turkish or Afghan. It has 'buttons' on the back which is how it was attached to cloth or leather worn around the head. It's made of sterling silver (tested) surrounded by blue lapis lazuli cabochons set in silver bezels, though they're not sterling grade.
The multi chains are also silver though not sterling. The chains measure 18 inches around and are decorated with little rings. There are green and red jewels set in saw-tooth bezels and silver bell-like dangles hanging along the bottom.
The aged patina gives the necklace an old-world beauty that only time can add. The newer handmade clasp was added for secure, easy on and off.
This necklace drapes perfectly flat around the neck and looks fantastic on. It's circa 1900 - 1920...in excellent vintage condition.
