If you're a collector of nodders, bobble heads, bobbing heads or whatever you call them...then come bobble on over here to see a rare one of these dolls.
She's from Japan, circa late 1940s / early 1950s. She's hand-painted with detailed features. Made of composition or plaster. Not too heavy at 207 grams.
She's tall...10 inches high. The grassy base measures 3 1/4 inches across.
Her hands were wrapped around something...a stick no doubt. We believe she was holding either a tennis racket or baseball bat. Could be she had a fishing pole. Whatever it was is gone and you can find something for her to carry. Her short skirt and sporty top with tennis like shoes and socks suggest that this gal is into sports.
The bottom is marked JAPAN. There's a nick off the black paint of her skirt (at side). She has a few tufts of 'hair' on her forehead. Her nodding action is fantastic. Her head continues to bobble for a long while after I set her down. Her neck has plenty of spring to it.
This nodder is in excellent vintage condition. We made no attempt to clean it. We searched high and low for another like her on the Internet...nowhere to be found. Except here, shaking her head in total agreement.
