Here's an exceptional piece of gold jewelry from the early Victorian era...circa 1850 to 1870.

The bracelet is 14k yellow gold with an openwork etched top piece that has a conjoined, cut-through ~ S F~ in the center. What comes to mind is 'San Francisco'...possibly this was a souvenir of that city. (It might also be your initials.)

The band of the bracelet is a braid of gutta percha wrapped in 14K gold rope. It's very unique...we've never seen anything like it. Gutta Percha was introduced in the 1840s and it quickly became one of the most useful elements in jewelry-making and the arts.

The bracelet measures 7 inches around. It's 5/8 inch wide at center. One side of the band latches onto the top, making it easy to put on or take off. The bracelet weighs 6.9 grams. It's unmarked but has been acid-tested for 14K.

Excellent antique condition. A unique complex piece.
