They just don't make anything like this anymore. It's a great rare example of old celluloid jewelry circa 1920s.
This black and ivorytone sailboat has a full mast of wind and a carved prow studded with clear crystal rhinestones. The sail is curved as a real sail would be in the wind. These old novelty pins went all out to be whimsical and unique.
Measures 1 3/4 inches across by 3 1/4 inches high which includes the little flag at the top. The back has the old original ~C~ clasp. The back shows slight discoloration and a bit of the gold paint that was used in the carved lines. The little indent on top of the sail is where it attaches to the flag on the back. Overall, condition is excellent with no cracks or chips to the celluloid and all rhinestones intact. As old plastic jewelry goes, this ship sails out in front.
