Here's a honey of an old Victorian pin in a rich honey color...this amber glass stone is hypnotic. The back is unfoiled so the light streams through, changing its warm amber tones. The facet-cut stone is framed in openwork pressed brass flowers that are gilded.
The pin measures 2 1/4 by 1 3/4 inches. The back has the original ~C~ clasp with the pin extending slightly beyond the pin's frame...common for Victorian pins. There's a safety 'stop' added to the pin to keep it secure.
From the back, the wired frame seems to have slight bends in it which is not apparent from the front. Since this was hand made, the wiring was obviously adjusted on the back to come out perfectly at the front...which is the end result. The glass shows very negligible age wear...the gilt flowers are bright. Pin is overall in excellent condition.
