Quite a rare and wonderful French brooch from the La Belle Epoque, early Art Nouveau era..Circa 1890. The portraits, en miniature, are done in the French medaillist or medalist revival style and feature a couple of the ladies of the Four Seasons. There are two of the same pattern, Ete (Summer) and one of Automne (Autumn). Most likely done by an artist like Dropsy or Emile Vernier. The maidens have flowers in their hair and one of the ladies has prominent breasts which is ultra feminine. It is petite and lovely, done in gold fill with little pastes in between as accents. The three medallions are set on a bar pin that closes like a safety pin. Measures 1 1/2" in length and the diameter of each miniature medallion is 3/8". 10k gold top and gold filled bottom. A superb antique brooch for jewelry lovers of all things French, Oui! Oui! This came directly from an old estate in France.
