This is such a rare and unusual treasure. An Art Deco era vanity duette that combines a powder jar with a scent or perfume bottle on the top. The glass is a dusty rose pink with a encrusted gold band that has a flower basket motif. This gold encrusted work was quite expensive to do as it took hours of meticulous carving to reveal the design. Gold encrustation is a method of overglaze decoration where the design is etched into the porcelain surface with hydrofluoric acid, then hand painted with several layers of gold and fired. This combination duo is exceptionally beautiful and in wonderful condition with the exception of the loss to the dauber which is typical of vintage glass. The powder measures 4 1/2" in diameter and the overall height is around 6 1/2" with the perfume bottle. An exquisite piece of elegant glass from a bygone era.
