I am pleased to offer an extremely beautiful and rare pair of antique sterling silver garter buckles or suspender clips made by Wliiam Kerr. The front of the each piece features adorable repousse cherubs set among a classical foliate motif and two gorgeous faceted rubies or rhodolite garnets. They are natural stones with beautiful violet ruby color and measure approximately 3/4 carat each. The design and detail in the repousse work is absolutely gorgeous. One could consider these Art Nouveau or Victorian as it has elements of both. The backs are clearly marked "sterling" with the axe hallmark for William Kerr and the serial number "70". They measure 1 1/2" square and weigh 17.1 grams. This pair of garter belt buckles are very fine, ultra rare and gorgeous. Rare because Kerr pieces with genuine jewels are very hard to find. A superb example of antique sterling silver made by the renowned American silver maker, William Kerr. Circa 1880-1890
These would make a very special gift or addition to a collection.
